Pippi kept asking me if I'd finally do some work on her house as well?

Eli ei kun tiiliä lakkaamaan.

HenkkaMaukan matta kynsilakka oli täydellinen tiilien päälle. Sen jälkeen saumaus, ja piippu oli vihdoin valmis.

So off to lacquer tiles I went.

I used a matte nail polish for the job. Once that was dry, I did the dreaded grouting and hey presto, the chimney is up!

Sitten kaivettiin pussista kuusikulmaiset keramiikkatiilet ja liima.

Then I got out hexagonal ceramic tiles and glue.

Ja kuten näette, työergonomia on otettu hyvin huomioon.. 

And as you can see, ergonomics are well taken care of...

Siellä Peppi esittelee ei vain uusia tiiliä seinässä (jotka muuten tarkoituksella näyttävät siltä, että Peppi ne on sinne hutkinut.. sillä työasennolla ei ollut varmaankaan mitään vaikutusta..) vaan myös uutta tiskipöytää.

Pippi is showing not only the new tiles (which naturally are wonky as if Pippi stuck them up there, had nothing to do with how I had to reach inside the house..) but also her new sink.

Minulla oli yksi Wooperin haljennut pikku kippo, jonka palat liimasin laattojen päälle.

I had a broken bowl (by Wooper) I had saved the pieces of, so I glued those on top of the tiles.

Allas on tehty balsasta, muut osat balsaa ja rakettikeppiä.

The sink is made from balsa, as is most of the table also. The legs are from fireworks sticks.

Viemäriputkena toimii spray-maalattu haitaripillin pätkä.

The drain pipe is a piece of straw I spray painted.

Hellan tein konepahvista, nupit polymeerimassaa. Tein hellankin taakse pienen laatoituksen.

Siellä kattilassa ovat ihanat kengät, jotka sain kesäswapista, jossa olin mukana.

The oven is made from cardboard, the knobs are polymer clay. I added some more tiles behind it.

In the pot are cute shoes I got from a summer themed swap I was in.

Julkisivuremontti

Niin... siinä leiriviikon aikana katselin kun Ninni liimasi tiiliä ja maalasi.

Aina kun vilkaisin Estherin taloon päin, alkoi mietintä.

Kun tuo poikien kaupan julkisivu on kyllä ihan liian hailakka.. eikä se erotu yläkerrasta.

Ja siitä se sitten lähti.

During the summer camp week I watched as Ninni glued on tiles and painted.

Every time I glanced at Esther's house, I started thinking.

The boys' shop front really is too bland.. 

And that was it.

Taas liimattiin tiiliä,.. onneksi munakennot ovat ehtymätön luonnonvara :D

And again I found myself gluing on tiles.. luckily there is no shortage of egg cartons :D

Ja sitten maalia kehiin. Varastosta löytyi myös juuri sopivaa kehyslistaa.

And then paint. I also found some decorative frame list from my stash.

Nyt kauppa erottuu edukseen Viistokujalla! Ninni lupasi vielä maalata tuohon oven viereen syötävän  Dark Mark mainoksen :)

Now we're talking! Ninni had promised to paint an Edible Dark Mark ad next to the door :)

No mutta mitäs täällä tapahtuu?

Ei ole Huvikumpu läheskään valmis, mutta uutta jo pukkaa?

Tuossa talven aikana totesin, että Esther tarvitsee taikakasveilleen kaupan, se on tulossa tuohon alakertaan. Yläkertaan tulee kirjansitoja/sivujen kultaaja.

Eli Viistokuja laajenee.

Over the winter I decided that Esther needed a shop for her magical plants, it will be the downstairs shop. Above will be a book binder/page gilder.

So more Diagon Alley coming up.

Vierashuone

Siinä se vihdoin on, Estherin asunnon laajennus. Siitä tuli hauska lisä tuohon taloon.

There it finally is, the extension on Esther's house. I love how quirky it is now.

Leiriviikolla sain tylsimmän osuuden eli munakennonpalojen kattoon liimaamisen tehtyä. Katto on nostettavissa, että huoneeseen pääsee käsiksi.

During the camp week I got the most boring part, gluing on all those egg carton bits, finished. The roof lifts up for easy access to the room.

Makuuhuoneeseen piti sahata oviaukko. Väliovea en siihen halua, Esther pitää enemmän verhoista. Oikean kangas on vielä hakusessa.

I had to cut a door way to the bedroom. I don.t want a door, Esther prefers curtains. I am still hunting for the right fabric.

Huoneeseen olisi tulossa sivustavedettävä sohva vierassängyksi. Lampun johdollekin pitää porata reikä.

I will be adding a Scandinavian style extending daybed/couch to the room. And I need to drill a hole for the lamp cord..

Esther on niin tyytyväinen, että osti itselleen ja Lunalle jäätelöt.

Esther was so happy, she treated Luna and herself to some ice cream.

Näyttää niin kotoisalta valot päällä.

Looks so cozy with the lights on.

Päähän hiipi ajatus: Ihanaa, talo on vihdoinkin valmis!

A thought crept into my head: the house is finally finished!

Niin ehdin luulla noin vuorokauden, kunnes... 

...eli jatkoa tulossa.

Aikamatkailu alkakoon!

Kerhomme piti tässä kuussa toisen kesäleiriviikon. Viime vuonna nautittiin kuusi päivää. tällä kertaa ihan koko viikko. Aivan mieletöntä oli, voitte käydä lukemassa viikosta täällä.

Itselläni oli ihan lista, jotta saisin jotain tehdyksi, eikä menisi aika ihan vaan haahuillessa.

Our club held the second annual summer camp week this month. Last year we enjoyed six days of fun, this year we made it a full seven. It was amazing, you can see what we all got up to here.

I had a to-do-list, so I could focus on what needed to be done.

Ensimmäisenä listalla oli Tohtorin aikakone TARDIS.

Tilatut ledivalot olivat saapuneet, joten jäljellä oli vain katon rakentaminen ja valojen asennus.

First on the list was the Doctor's TARDIS.

The LED-lights I had ordered had arrived, so I needed to build a roof and attach the lights.

Paristokotelo on piilotettu katon alle. Valot palavat sisällä ja nupissa vilkkuu sininen valo ihan niinkuin pitääkin.

The battery is hiding under the roof. There's a white light inside and a blue flashing one on top.

Katon jouduin rakentamaan kahteen kertaan, kun ensimmäisestä tuli liian jyrkkä. 

Vielä kun tähän saisi jotenkin nuo äänet liitettyä...

I confess to having to build the roof twice, as the first one was too steep.

Now I have to figure out how to include the sounds....

Apua merirosvoja!

Idea lähti taas jostain kerhokaverin heittämästä sivulauseesta...

The idea came from something a club member said in passing...

Huvikumpuun piti saada masto märssykorilla, eihän merirosvoleikeistä muuten mitään tule.

Villa Villekulla needed a mast with a crow's nest. You can't properly play pirates without one.

Aloitin veistämällä rakettikepeistä maston osat ja virittämällä niille alustan.

I started by making the masts from the sticks left over from fireworks and then gluing together a base.

Märssykoriin käytin apuna tätä ohjetta.

Alaosa on konepahvia ja reunan suikaleet ovat kahdella petsillä käsiteltyä pahvia.

I used this tutorial as help when making the crow's nest.

The base is thick cardboard and the cardboard for the strips was painted with two different stains.

Tikkatkin piti solmia.

A rope ladder needed to be made.

Viimeiseksi vielä purje paikoilleen, lippu ylös ja merirosvolaulut kaikumaan.

Then all that was needed was to pull up the sail, hoist the pirate flag and start singing sea shanties.

Peppi vaati kovaan ääneen merirosvomekkoa. Sellaisen sain tehtyä Hannan pitämässä vaatepajassa.

Kolmikolkkahatun tein nahasta ja samalla leikkasin vyön, johon voi ripustaa miekan.

Pippi insisted loudly that she needed a pirate dress. So I made her one at the clothes work shop Hanna held for us. The tricorn hat is made from leather as is the belt. It holds her sword.

Voisitko tehdä talon pian valmiiksi! Ja sen kuumailmapallon, että voidaan valloittaa koko maailma!

Kyllä tästä talo tulee

Tämän olohuoneen erkkerin kanssa on kyllä melkein hermot menneet. Päätin hyödyntää alkuperäiset ikkunat, jotka piti ensin tietenkin purkaa, hioa ja liimata kasaan uusilla laseilla. Ja kun vihdoin sain tuon alaosan palat (kahteen kertaan) leikattua, niin nyt ei katto-osa istukaan.. Päätin jättää asian muhimaan ja keskittyä helpompiin hommiin hetkeksi.

Perusajatuksena tämän talon kanssa on ollut, että käytän niitä materiaaleja rakentamisessa, mitä kaapeista jo löytyy. Poikkeuksena tarvittavat liimat ja maalit, sekä sähköistykseen liittyvät.

I've nearly lost my will to live with this window. I decided to use the original window panes. They had to naturally be disassembled, sanded, painted and glued together with new glass. And when I finally got the lower pieces right (after cutting them twice), I realized the roof part doesn't fit properly... I then figured it would be best if I simply let that stew in my mind while finishing other parts of the house.

My core idea with this build is to use those materials I already have in my cupboards. Only exceptions being glue, paints and whatever is needed for the electricity.

The tower needed a climbing rope.

Sisälle tein pöydän shakkinappulasta ja palasta puuta.

The inside got a table made from a chess piece and a piece of wood.

Majakka sai katon. 

Lyhtyhuone on muuten Greenleafin minikylän pergola :)

The lighthouse got a roof.

The top is in fact a pergola from a Greenleaf mini village kit :)

Ovikin sai raamit ympärilleen.

The door got some pretty things to frame it.

Ja sain jopa kuistin aikaiseksi!

I even got the entryway finished!

Piippu on maalattu ja odottaa saumausta.

The chimney has been painted and is waiting for grout.
