Hogwarts in 1:24th scale

 Last Monday I visited the Harry Potter tour at Leavesden Studios.

 The highlight of the tour was in the last room:

Hogwarts in glorious 1:24th scale.

The detail is astounding.

I walked in the room, and promptly tripped over my jaw that had dropped to the floor...

The castle alone is well worth the £28 ticket price.

For me at least  :)

The model is 15 meters in diameter and took a total of 74 years to build when all the time spent by 86 artists and crew members is added up.

(that's an adult standing in front, gives you some indication of the scale)

Simply amazing.

Olen ollut työpöydän äärellä aina iltaisin, ja pikkuhiljaa on istutuslaatikko täynnä pelargoneja tullut valmiiksi. Tuossa se kultasadepuukin kuiskuttelee... siinä menee vielä tovi.

I've been at my desk in the evenings, and bit by bit, the geranium filled window box got finished. The laburnum tree keeps whispering to me.. that's still going to take a while.

Tuo Lontoon kartta (ja muistivihko täynnä osoitteita jne) tulee käyttöön äitienpäiväviikonloppuna. Kyllä kyllä..allekirjoittanut pääsee vihdoinkin Kensingtonin mahtaville nukkismarkkinoille!

Kone laskeutuu lauantaiaamuna 12.5. Onko reissuun lähdössä muita kotimaan harrastajia?

The map of London (and my little black notebook) will be used in under two weeks. Yes, I'm finally fulfilling a dream of visiting the Kensington Dolls House festival! I'll be there on Saturday the 12th. Any blogger friends attending? I'd love to meet some of you :)
